York
Founded by the Romans in 71 AD, York was once England's second city
Hunt starts and ends at: Clifford's Tower
Length of Hunt: c. 2-3 hrs at a medium pace (excluding optional refreshment / pub stops)
Our York treasure hunt has a circular route, starting at Clifford's Tower - once the central stronghold of York Castle. On through Spurriergate and Lendal, then bearing right towards the magnificent York Minster. Wend your way then to the medieval Shambles, and along to High Ousegate, before finishing down Nessgate to get back to your starting place.
We like:
- the quaint mix of shops in The Shambles (it's busy but it's worth it)
- getting away from the crowds in the gardens by York Minster - a nice spot for a picnic
- visiting the National Railway museum - it's free, huge & full of amazing stuff.
