Paris is our first Treasure Hunt in a mainland European capital city.  Its iconic landmarks are instantly identifiable, and the cosmopolitan central streets have been home to statesmen and artists for hundreds of years.

The hunt route starts outside the Gothic cathedral of Notre-Dame, on the Île de la Cité. Head towards the Palais de Justice, then take a stroll along the Seine, enjoying the views of the Louvre in the distance. Cross the Pont-Neuf bridge to arrive in fashionable St Germain des Pres – a hotspot of boutique artisan shops and famous restaurants. The trail leads through a series of historic lanes up to the front of the majestic Palais du Luxembourg. The lovely gardens next door (Jardins du Luxembourg) are a perfect place to meet up at the end or have a picnic.

We like:

  • La Boissonnerie in Rue de Seine - excellent daily changing fish menus at reasonable prices
  • Window shopping along luxurious Rue Jacob
  • The views from the bridges across the river
  • Hotel Odeon in St Germain des Pres as a great base for a stay (13 Rue St-Sulpice)
