Thaxted is one of Essex’s finest towns, and has a recorded history dating back to before the Domesday Book.  After exploring its medieval centre and church, we head down the country lanes to Hempstead, the home of Dick Turpin, (and also one of the county’s best real-ale pubs, The Bluebell).  The final stop is the outstandingly beautiful village of Finchingfield, known as ‘the most photographed village in Essex’ – you will see why!
